Sedlar's Champ Report 12/15/2017

Hello Fabulous Emerson Families~

The holidays are upon us…time sure does fly when you’re having fun!  We have been having a HUGE amount of fun during the month December as we are attempting to show others around us that we “Care”.  There were many ways for our students, staff and families to show the caring spirit this month.  Below is a wrap-up to show how well we did:

·         Toys for Tots – we have filled five giant boxes this year!  Nice work, Emerson families!  Our second grade students and their families filled one of the boxes at the Christmas performance!  WOW…there will be many happy children on Christmas morning because of your generosity!

·         The Owosso Cares Food Drive was once again a phenomenal event!  Even with the snow day we managed to fill over 25 boxes!  Just a reminder that all of the food is given to local food pantries for distribution through their centers.

·         The Salvation Army “Bell Ringing” campaign offered Emerson families a way to give back an hour or two of time supporting a great cause.  There were several families that volunteered their time to “ring” as a family.

Our 2nd grade students were featured in a splendid Christmas vocal performance last Thursday.  Under the direction of Mrs. Bruder, our music teacher, they sang songs that warmed the hearts of many and put many people into the Christmas spirit!  Nice work students and to Mrs. Bruder!

The snow has arrived!!!  In order to help keep your child warm and healthy I would like to give you a few reminders about proper clothing for Winter:

·         Students should not wear shorts or have bare legs until after Spring Break when the temperature begins to increase.

·         A winter coat must be worn during recess time in order for a student to play during that time.

·         I am encouraging all Kdg.-5th grade students have a coat, snowpants, boots, a hat and gloves in order to play on the playground at recess.

On behalf of the students and staff of Emerson Elementary, I would like to personally thank each and every person who helped to make the Food Drive, Toys for Tots and the Salvation Army bell ringing campaign such huge successes!  The economy is not what it used to be, but our families have stepped up and made things happen here at Emerson!  The staff at Emerson feels so privileged that you have entrusted your child’s education to us!  Thank you!  Thank you for being the awesome families that you are!  I wish you all a very happy and safe holiday!  Merry Christmas! See you in 2018!

Please be reminded that Tuesday, December 19th is the last day of school for two weeks for the Christmas and New Year holiday.  Owosso Public Schools will resume classes on Wednesday, January 3, 2018.

I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend and vacation!  As always …GO STATE, go blue and GO TROJANS!!!
