Sedlar's Champ Report 10/20/2017

Hello Emerson Families~

Happy Fall!  We have had a super amazing week of learning at Emerson Elementary!  The Emerson staff is totally on their “A game” when it comes to preparing and presenting high quality lessons that are engaging and fun for our students!  I invite you to check out the online version of the newsletter as there are many pictures on the last page that give you a snapshot into the world of Emerson.  To do this, please log on to www.owosso.k12.mi.us.  Once you are there, select Schools towards the top of the page and under that drop down, select Emerson.  On the bottom left hand side Emerson page, there is a link titled, “Notify Me”.  Click that and you will then be signing up for school-related items that come from Emerson.

The next time you’re at Emerson, please take a moment to review the posters that are up in the gym or in the vestibule that explain what will be on the November 7th ballot.  If you have questions about the bond, please either come and chat with me or give me a call in the Office.  The goal is to have everyone educated to make an informed vote on November 7th.  You can also check out the tax calculator and other information about the upcoming bond proposal by visiting www.owosso.k12.mi.us and clicking on the red words, Bond Proposal Information and Calculator.

Please be reminded that the school day officially starts at 8:45 each day.  The first bell rings at 8:40 and the tardy bell rings at 8:45. The expectation is that all students will be inside the classroom by 8:45.  If they are not, they will be considered tardy and have to have a pass from the Office to be given to the classroom teacher.  Your help in having your child at Emerson no later than 8:45 is greatly appreciated!  When students come into school late, they miss valuable instruction time!

Halloween is quickly approaching!  We will be celebrating Halloween on Tuesday, October 31st.  Since it is a half-day of school, students will come dressed in their costumes and we will have the parade at 9:15.  Costumes that contain masks, weapons, blood or gory parts are not allowed at school.  If the weather cooperates, we will parade out of the gym doors, north on the sidewalk of Dewey Street and then across the playground, around the west side of Emerson and back in the building.  If the weather does not cooperate, we’ll parade through the gym and back to the classrooms.  The individual grade-levels will have classroom parties at different times that morning before we dismiss at Noon.  Please note that our 5th grade students will be doing a bowling party on Monday in lieu of a Halloween Party on Tuesday.

Did you know that you can stay current on Emerson happenings?  There is a Facebook page set up just for Emerson families and friends!  Please search ‘Emerson Elementary PTO’ on Facebook to find our page.  Once you are there, be sure to ‘Like’ it so that you can get up-to-date information about the awesome things happening at Emerson Elementary School!

We will be sending a paper copy of the Parent Letter this week as well as one more week to ensure that everyone has had enough time to sign-up for the electronic version.  If you wish to receive a paper copy of the weekly Parent Letter, please contact the Emerson Office.

I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend!  As always…GO STATE, go blue and GO TROJANS!!!
